The Arizona Cardinals have added some linebacker depth just one day before training camp is set to begin.

The Cards announced Wednesday that they signed linebacker Donald Butler, who has spent his entire five-year NFL career with the San Diego Chargers. Butler played in all 16 regular-season games last year and started nine of them, recording 43 combined tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Butler played collegiately at Washington and was selected by the Chargers in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-1, 242-pounder has 268 solo tackles (373 total) and seven sacks in his NFL, and he has missed just nine games during his pro career. The Chargers released him in March.

The Cardinals also announced the release of linebacker Quayshawn Nealy, who was signed to the Cards' practice squad in January.
