PHOENIX - After taking offensive guard Jonathan Cooper in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals went to the defensive side of the ball with their second-round pick.
But before they made their pick, the Cardinals traded second-round picks with the San Diego Chargers. The Cardinals gave the Chargers the 38th overall pick, and the Cardinals moved down seven spots to the 45th overall spot.
After jumping up seven spots, the Chargers went with a controversial pick in Notre Dame Linebacker Manti Te'o. Te'o is the former N.D. linebacker whose career at Notre Dame was tainted after national news linked Te'o to a fictional girlfriend.
But I digress! Back to the Arizona Cardinals, and the team's second round pick!
With the 45th overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected linebacker Kevin Minter out of LSU.
Standing six feet tall and weighing in at 246 pounds, Minter was considered the most consistent defensive player for the Tigers. This past fall, Minter was a consensus all-Southeast Conference selection and was named to numerous All-America teams.
Kevin was also named his team's most valuable player, something that shouldn't be taken lightly, considering the number of outstanding players on the LSU roster.
Expect Kevin Minter to come in and make an immediate impact for the Cardinals, especially considering the fact that Daryl Washington is suspended for the first four games of 2013 after violating the League's substance abuse policy.
