PHOENIX - For the Arizona Cardinals, preseason is still a few months out but for the Cardinals Cheerleaders, the time is now.
This weekend they're holding open tryouts to build their squad. With the help of some seasoned pros, Cardinals Cheerleader hopeful Paola Rivera is practicing her moves. She's been training all year for this weekend's tryouts after falling just short of making the squad last season.
Rivera says the experience last year motivated her even more to try again this year. Director Heather Karberg says she's happy to see how confident Rivera has become.
Karberg says trying out in front of judges and hundreds of other girls can be intimidating but confidence is key for anyone looking to make the team
They're looking for the complete package, a good representative of the Cardinals organization. Women who have the glamour and the dance skills but who are also professional and goal oriented and are ready to treat the experience as a job.
The Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders will host open tryouts at the Arizona Biltmore Resort.
Registration begins at noon on Saturday and tryouts are open to women 18 years and older.
