FC Dallas parts ways with GM Hitchcock

Last Update: 10/27 3:41 pm

Hunt Sports Group Chairman Clark Hunt announced Tuesday that FC Dallas will not renew the contract of general manager Michael Hitchcock.

Hitchcock's responsibilities with the club have been discontinued, effective immediately.

"We appreciate Michael's efforts on behalf of FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park over the last four seasons," Hunt said. "Michael was an outstanding ambassador for FC Dallas during his time with the club, and we certainly wish him the best in the future."

Hunt said FC Dallas will not fill the position of general manager. Instead the club will hire a technical director to assist coach Schellas Hyndman in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the soccer team. HSG President John Wagner will continue to oversee the business side of the organization.

"The last four years with FC Dallas have been an amazing experience for me," Hitchcock said. "Working for Lamar Hunt and the Hunt family has been one of the highlights of my career, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity. I'd like to thank the players, coaches, staff and especially the fans for their support during my time with the club."

The club amassed a 48-47-27 regular-season record during Hitchcock's tenure, and reached the playoffs twice, finishing 2-2-0 in postseason play.
