This week, ABC15’s Small Star of the week is a world-class fencing champion.
Fifteen-year-old Kara Lind has been training on the saber for years, competing in events all over the globe. She gave ABC15 a sneak peak into her training at Fencers Club of Arizona in Chandler, and boy, does she work hard!
Days after we talked to her, Kara flew to Poland to compete in the Konin Saber Cadet European Cup with Team USA.
She went up against 39 of the world’s best fencers, most of them older than she is. But Kara stayed focused, and for the second year in a row, she dominated and brought home the gold!
Kara is one of only three Americans to win this competition, and the only female fencer to win the event twice.
