Twin-engine plane crashes while approaching landing in Fort Mohave, pilot survives

FORT MOHAVE, AZ - A twin-engine plane crashed near Sun Valley Airport in Fort Mohave on Monday afternoon.

Tony Ginero, of Norco, Calif, was preparing to land his 1965 Piper PA-30 fixed wing twin engine plane at Sun Valley Airport when it began to experience mechanical problems and crashed a half-mile from the airport, officials said.

The flight originated at Lake Havasu Airport, officials said.

Ginero survived the crash suffering minor injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is aware of the crash and will conduct an investigation.
