NATIONAL GUARD UNIT RETURNS
Nearly 100 members of the 819th Engineer Company from the Arizona Army National Guard will return from a nine month deployment in Afghanistan, just in time for Christmas. Their mission was to detect and eliminate improvised explosive devices on roadways. 10 a.m., Papago Park Military Reservation, Phoenix.

MIDNIGHT MASS
Bishop Thomas Olmstead will celebrate Christmas Eve Midnight Mass. 11 p.m., Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, Phoenix.

TREE BURN DEMONSTRATION
The Mesa Fire Department will demonstrate the dangers of a dried out Christmas tree and encourage people to tree-cycle rather than holding onto the tree too long. 8:30 a.m., Public Safety Training Facility, Mesa.
