Traveling? Water pressure woes cause rest stop closures

SAN SIMON, AZ - Arizona Department of Transportation officials say water pressure problems require the closure of Interstate 10 rest areas in San Simon near the New Mexico state line.

The water pressure problem affects the rest areas on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the freeway.

ADOT officials say the problem surfaced Sunday morning and the rest areas will be closed at least through Tuesday afternoon.

Motorists traveling in that area of eastern Cochise County can use the truck stop off Exit 382 in San Simon as an alternative until the rest areas reopen.

The Texas Canyon rest area on westbound I-10 also remains closed for improvements through the rest of this week.

The eastbound Texas Canyon rest area is open and alternate facilities also can be found in Willcox and Benson.
