Officers arrest three Valley residents accused of smuggling pot in motorhomes

LUKEVILLE, AZ - Three Arizona residents were arrested, and two motorhomes were seized, Sunday at the Port of Lukeville in connection with a pair of drug-smuggling attempts in southern Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped a motorhome driven by a 56-year-old Phoenix man for additional inspection and located 41 bundles of marijuana, weighing nearly 697 pounds, worth over $348,000, CBP said.

In a separate incident earlier that day, officers stopped a motorhome occupied by two Buckeye residents for additional inspection and located 27 packages of marijuana, weighing over 574 pounds, worth $287,000, CBP said.  

The drugs and motorhomes were seized and the suspects were referred to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, according to CBP officials.
