The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said there is now a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest after a teen was seriously hurt in a boating accident on Bartlett Lake earlier this month.

On August 5 deputies responded to a head-on boating crash involving a speedboat and a 15-year-old jet ski rider on the lake.

Deputies say the teen suffered major injuries to his face and head and was transported to the shore by other boaters. The boy remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and has "many more" surgeries to come, according to deputies.

After speaking with several witnesses, deputies are releasing a description of the boat involved and the two suspects who were aboard at the time of the incident.

Deputies say the boat is an 18-foot long fishing-style vessel with a possible aluminum hull and a white bimini top. The boat is described as having a light gray lower half with dark charcoal or a purple colored stripe design above it.

The boat has black lettering somewhere on its side with a possible paint scratch on its left side, three to five feet ahead of the vessel's strengthening crossbar.

Deputies say the boat has a black outboard motor with a single windshield in front of the driver's seat on its right side.

The boat is also described as having a deck area with gray carpeting that is large enough for a person to lie across.

Deputies describe the male suspect aboard the boat as Caucasian, 30 years old, and having a stocky build. Witnesses say the man was 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with dirty blonde or brown buzz-cut hair.

The female suspect aboard the boat is described as Caucasian, in her mid to late twenties with a medium build. She was described as having long dark hair.

If anyone has any information on this incident, they are asked to call MCSO at 602-876-1011.
