PHOENIX - Is your car the most attractive to thieves? If you drive a 17-year-old Honda Accord, that may be the case.
That's according to a new list of the most stolen vehicles in Arizona, which came out this week from the National Insurance Crime Bureau .
NICB also lists the top 10 vehicles stolen in the last year in each state. American pickups seem to also be popular with car crooks.
Here's the list of most stolen vehicles in Arizona:
1. 1994 Honda Accord
2. 2005 Dodge Ram
3. 1997 Honda Civic
4. 1999 Chevrolet Pickup (full size)
5. 1997 Ford F150 Pickup
6. 2003 Ford F250 Pickup
7. 1997 Nissan Altima
8. 1994 Nissan Sentra
9. 2006 Ford F350 Pickup
10. 2007 Toyota Camry
The 1994 Honda Accord is also the most stolen vehicle in the U.S., according to NCIB.
NCIB says there was a 7-percent drop in stolen cars last year, according to preliminary crime statistics from the FBI.
If those numbers hold up by the end of the year, that would mean 2010 had the lowest number of vehicle thefts in 43 years.
To prevent your vehicle from being stolen, NICB says it recommends the "Layered Protection" approach, from common sense to a tracking device.
