A deadly accident near the California border Sunday has created a long closure for drivers coming into Arizona.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the two-car accident happened around 9:20 a.m. near milepost 11.1 on eastbound Interstate 10.
Officer Carrick Cook with DPS says the accident involved a semi truck and a passenger car, killing one person.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced around noon that westbound lanes between Ehrenberg and US 95 were closed.
Westbound I-10 is now open but as of 2:30 p.m., but eastbound lanes remain closed. Officer Cook says there is no estimate for the road to reopen.
