Gov. Brewer appoints Maricopa County judge

PHOENIX - Gov. Jan Brewer has filled a judicial vacancy in Maricopa County Superior Court.

The governor on Wednesday announced that Lori Horn Bustamante to be the court's newest judge.

Bustamante currently presides over cases as a court commissioner. She has also worked as a trial attorney and a deputy county attorney in the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

According to Brewer, Bustamante has a well-rounded background in civil and criminal law. She says Bustamante has a genuine respect for separation of powers.

Bustamante graduated from Grand Canyon University and from Pepperdine University School of Law.

She replaces outgoing Judge Harriet Chavez.
