Gas prices crash in Phoenix area over past week

PHOENIX - The average retail price of gasoline in the Phoenix area has dropped 7.3 cents per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com .

According to gasoline price website, PhoenixGasPrices.com , prices were averaging $3.23 per gallon on Sunday.

The lowest price found was $3.07 in Avondale and north Phoenix, the highest in Fountain Hills.

The national average retail price has fallen 4.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34.

Even though prices are 28.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, they're still 7.8 cents higher than the same time a year ago.

Of the cities surveyed in the lower 48 states, according to the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices, Memphis, Tenn. has the lowest average price for gas at $3.04 and Long Island N.Y. has the highest at $3.85, the Associated Press reports.
