COYOTES DEAL OR NO DEAL
We may hear from the National Hockey League on Friday about the status of a deal, or possible lack of finalized deal, to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes. The City of Glendale established a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Thursday to purchase the team before an arena management deal would be nullified.

PHOENIX OPEN
Expect Friday to be a packed day at the Waste Management Phoenix Open as people skip out on work and start a three-day weekend watching the pros at the golf course. 7:30 a.m., TPC Scottsdale.

CHILD MURDER SENTENCING
Leonard Raymond Orta Jr., who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the death of his five-year-old niece, is scheduled to be sentenced. He was the child's legal guardian at the time. 10 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.

COUPON RING SENTENCING
Marilyn Johnson and Amiko Fountain, who plead guilty to counterfeiting-related charges in connection with a coupon ring, are scheduled to be sentenced. 8:30 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
