With the help of an Arizona Department of Public Safety fixed-wing aircraft, officers cited 127 speeders from the sky along U.S. 93 this President’s Day weekend.
According to DPS, officers issued 127 speed citations, five non-hazardous citations and three child restraint citations and discovered 11 criminal violations over a nine-hour period between the Valley and Las Vegas, Nevada.
All of the speeders cited were driving 20 mph over the 65 mph speed limit, 83 were traveling over 90 mph and 13 speeders were driving over 100 mph, DPS said. One cited motorist averaged a driving speed of 106 mph.
DPS said the traffic enforcement operation was conducted to save lives and more of these operations are planned to get drivers to pay further attention to their driving.
