PHOENIX - Arizona stores "came up flat" with a 20 percent failure rate after Arizona Weights and Measures conducted an investigation on tortilla packaging, Director of Compliance Programs Shawn Marquez said.
Over 80 brands were tested, some of which had false weights and fewer tortillas than advertised on their packaging.
Thirty-six businesses across Arizona were inspected and seven were cited, Marquez said.
Two Valley stores -- Safeway in Tempe and Costco in Avondale -- were found to be in violation. Five others across Tucson were also cited.
The audit was conducted from October 2 to October 15.
