PHOENIX - Fun concerts, fried foods, and various rides are just some of the attractions at the Arizona State Fair that opens Friday in Phoenix.
The fair opens its 18-day run on Friday at its McDowell Road site just north of downtown Phoenix.

New attractions touted by fair promoters include a street drum corps, wine competition and tasting and chain saw carving demonstrations.
Nightly entertainment includes an Oct. 14 performance by Weezer, an Oct. 19 concert by John Fogerty.
The fair runs from Friday through Nov. 4 and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Adult admission is $10 and children and seniors pay $5. Gates open at noon weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends.
