Arizona Humane Society is offering cat spayings for $20 in February in 'Beat the Heat' campaign

PHOENIX - The Arizona Humane Society is joining the "Beat the Heat" campaign in February to keep cat overpopulation numbers down in the Valley.

According to officials, AHS receives so many unwanted cats and kittens each spring that the organization has to turn many away.

To prevent this from happening this year, AHS will spay female cats for $20 throughout the month of February as part of the "Beat the Heat" campaign created by Pet Smart Charities.

Officials said that cat owners can make appointments at AHS' Sunnyslope public clinic by mentioning "Beat the Heat".
