Arizona Board of Regents elects board officers for 2012 fiscal year

PHOENIX - The Arizona Board of Regents elected board officers for the 2012 fiscal year today with current Regents Vice Chair Fred Duval set to serve as chair of the board beginning in July.

Other selections included Regents Bob McClendon as vice chair, LuAnn Leonard as secretary and Mark Killian as treasurer. Student Regent William Holmes was appointed assistant treasurer.

Former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano appointed DuVal to the 12-member ABOR in 2006. Duval will unveil his agenda for his term as chair at the June board meeting.

Duval served on the senior staff of Arizona Governor Bruce Babbitt from 1976 to 1988 and in 1993, President Clinton appointed DuVal as Deputy Chief of Protocol and in 1996 as Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs in the White House, according to a board news release. He returned to Arizona where he served on the Arizona Commerce and Economic Development Commission.

The board members will take their new positions July 1.
