PHOENIX - Apple is urging Arizona's governor to veto legislation that would allow business owners the right to refuse service to customers based upon religious beliefs.
According to the Arizona Capitol Times, Apple spoke with Gov. Jan Brewer over the phone Monday urging her to veto SB1062.
Brewer announced in November 2013 that Apple is building a manufacturing facility in Mesa that is expected to create 700 jobs within its first year.
"Apple is indisputably one of the world's most innovative companies and I'm thrilled to welcome them to Arizona," Brewer said back in November.
Local political leaders, community activists and members of the gay community have held rallies around the state urging the governor to veto the proposed bill, saying it would allow for discrimination.
