PHOENIX - Your favorite grocery store may no longer be around as seven Fresh & Easy stores are closing in the Valley, the Phoenix Business Journal says.
An employee at the Fresh & Easy market at Gilbert and Guadalupe in Gilbert confirmed it will be closing along with six other stores in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Business Journal says the neighborhood market stores are closing right after Yucaipa Cos., a company owned by California billionaire Ron Burkle, bought the chain earlier this week.
The employee said the closure of the Gilbert market was part of the deal with Yucaipa Cos.
The company has not disclosed what other specific locations are closing.
Fresh & Easy has 20 stores across Arizona and 150 across the southwest, the Phoenix Business Journal says.
The amount Yucaipa Cos. paid for the grocery store chain was not revealed.
