You can save big money on produce by buying from a local distributor.
Kodiak Fresh Produce is local distributor and Bountiful Baskets is the supplier of their fresh fruits and veggies.
Kodiak sells produce in large quantities and with wholesale prices. And of course that means big savings for you.
Their warehouse is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. and you can buy in large quantities. Or, you can go to their Farmers Market on Saturday from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. and be able to buy in small or large quantities.
Kodiak Produce sells seasonal fruits and vegetables, plus they sell some organic items too. If you buy on a weekday, you will have to buy in large quantities and that might save you money, but if you don't have an army to feed, eating all that produce before it goes bad may be difficult.
You can share it with a group of folks to help, or go to Kodiak's Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. They sell whatever may be left from the week's orders so it can vary what you will find, but the food is always fresh.
Here is an example of some of their current pricing. A case of organic blueberries which includes 12, 6-ounce containers is just $16. That is just a little under $1.34 per container.
At this Saturday's Farmer's Market, you can get those blueberries in individual containers for a little more at $1.50 each. They will have pineapples for $1.25 each and asparagus for $1.25 per bundle.
Kodiak Fresh Produce has a no frills warehouse located on the south side of the access road off of I-17 east of 7th street.
Their exact address is: 1033 E. Maricopa in Phoenix, or call 602-253-2236 or you can check out their website .
