Our Smart Shopper team found a way to ride the city busses and light rail for free.

It's part of the Youth Transit Pass Program in Tempe.

Tempe youth, ages six to 18, can ride Valley Metro bus routes and the METRO light rail for free.

There's no catch—you just have to register for the program and you'll get a pass immediately that lets you ride for free whenever you want.

The free passes are available at the Tempe Transit store from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A parent or guardian must accompany youth when registering for the program.

If your child attends either Tempe, Compadre, Marcos de Niza or McClintock high schools and lives in Tempe or Guadalupe, they can get their transit pass at the school. That means less work for parents because you don’t have to accompany your child.

Call the Tempe Transit Store at 480-858-2350 or go online.
