The government furlough is hurting a lot of folk's pocket books. Good thing a lot of businesses are offering some freebies or deals to help out.
Mountainside Fitness has announced that employees laid off or furloughed as a result of the government shutdown will receive free membership with Mountainside Fitness through the end of 2013. This offer will stand regardless of the end date of the shutdown. Government employees who are not affected by the shutdown will not qualify. All you have to do is show up at any Valley Mountainside Fitness Center and show either you pay stub or government issued ID.

AMC Theatres is trying to help out all federal workers by giving away free popcorn. All you have to do is show your government or military ID at the concession stand. This freebie is good until the shutdown ends. If you want to see a movie at AMC for a great price don't forget all Valley AMC Theaters (with the exception of the AMC Esplanade location), if you go before 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, you can see any movie for just $5. If you want to go on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you can go see any movie for $6 just as long as it is before 12 p.m.
Sam's Club is helping out by letting all military personnel shop at Sam's Club without a membership. If you qualify just go to the closet Sam's Club and do your shopping. When you get to the cash register just tell them you are with the military and show your ID and that is all you need to do. Sam's Club is offering this until the government shutdown ends or the commissaries reopen.
