It's hot outside and the kids are not in school. That can lead to parents going stir crazy, so get out of the house and have fun for cheap.
Here are a few things you can do with your kids that won't completely break the bank.
You can stop in at Cerreta Candy Company with the kids, because they offer free tours of their candy factory in Glendale. The tours are Monday through Friday two times a day. The first tour is at 10 a.m. and the second is at 1 p.m.
The kids will be able to see how they assemble the candy, plus they can watch it go through their conveyor belts. This tour costs nothing whatsoever and you can show up before a tour, or call ahead and let them know which tour you want to go on.

How about seeing a newly released movie for just $5? All Valley AMC Theaters (with the exception of the AMC Esplanade location), if you go before 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, you can see any movie for just $5. If you want to go on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you can go see any movie for $6 just as long as it is before 12 p.m.
Home Depot has free workshops for the kids and adults. The kids' workshops are every first Saturday of the month and are geared towards kids ages 5-12.
The next free kids' workshop is on July 6 at 9:00 a.m. and it is themed around the movie "Despicable Me 2."
Kids will get an apron and tools to get the items needed to get the project done. Of course the kids can keep their apron and their completed project. Adult workshops are on the weekends both Saturday and Sunday.
Just go to Workshops.homedepot.com/workshops to find out times and topics of workshops.
