Recycle 1 and Arizona Center for the Blind Document Destruction are having a FREE Back to School Shred-a-Thon on Friday, Sept. 8. Anyone (businesses included) are welcome to bring down as much materials as they would like. They will have a box out front for donations which will benefit the Arizona Center for the Blind. The Shred-a-Thon is at 3040 S. 45th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85040

Saturday is Teddy Bear Day and you can celebrate in downtown Glendale with your bear-y best friend. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be make and take crafts, free Ollie the Trolley rides and lots of shopping discounts. Pick up your event map at the Glendale Visitor Center.

Head to Westworld of Scottsdale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for their Children's Learning and Play festival. The goal is fun and learning so expect lots of games and speakers focusing on STEM ideas. It's a free event but parking is $5 so bring cash!

If you would prefer to just relax, head over to the Odysea in the Desert courtyard for a free movie screening of Disney's Moana. It's Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and it's free! There will be activities before the movie, so get there early and bring chairs.

Makutu's Island is joining forces with St. Mary's Food Bank to fight childhood hunger.  Anyone who brings five canned food items will receive free admission to Makutu's Island (6919 W Ray Rd. Chandler) all day Friday, September 8 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.  If you donate 10 cans Makutu's Island will give you a complimentary FUNtastic Pass which gets you in for for for the rest of September and it includes deals from other businesses.

Popular tactical clothing brand 5.11 Tactical is celebrating its grand opening at its new Phoenix location Saturday, September 9. The party kicks off at 10 a.m. with giveaways, discounts, and complimentary food. They're giving out free gift cards worth up $511 to the first 70 adults in line! The address is 2036 E. Thomas Rd.
