Freebie Friday: Swim, play and get books for free

Get out and enjoy this gorgeous weather with the whole family for free.

The City of Phoenix is having a free day of play Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex.

There will be free sports clinics, an inflatable fun zone, games and prizes, plus you can get priority registration for Phoenix Plays Sports.

Also, the first 1,000 to complete the sports passport will get a free drawstring backpack.

The goal is to keep our kids active and the City of Phoenix has tons of youth sports programs that are extremely affordable.

So it's a great chance to get kids ages 3 to 12 involved in some physical activities.

Swimming is another good way to stay active and the Hubbard Family Swim School is teaming up with the Arizona Sunrays for their free Swim and Gym Festival.

The event is Saturday, November 2, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be free family swim and water play plus free gymnastics and dance classes.

It's a free event but the purpose is to raise money for Phoenix Children's Hospital so they are encouraging donations.

McDonald's and Read On Arizona are hosting a free Family Reading Day Saturday, November 2nd.

Starting at 1 p.m., they will offer the first 100 families to visit a local McDonald's a free Scholastic book, an ice cream cone and a literacy guide.

The free books are for toddlers up to the sixth grade.

The Wal-Mart and mall locations are not participating.

Also several McDonald's locations are offering free reading screenings from 1 to 3 p.m.

So take advantage of these great ways to start the month off with free stuff.
