Do-it-yourself spa recipes: Save money by making your own spa products at home

We all like to get pampered, especially at a spa. It's relaxing and can relieve a lot of stress… until you get the bill.

So why not get spa services at home by making your own products with things you already have? You can pamper yourself AND save.

Loretta Wilson, owner of Just For You Salon , is the queen when it comes to making you look pretty, and she showed us several recipes of how you can do it on a budget.

This first recipe is a face wash.

You'll need 1/3 cup castor oil or mineral oil and 1/4 cup olive oil.  If you have normal skin, you can add lavender oil. For acne, you can add a few drops of tea tree oil.

Mix it together and rub it on your face. When you're done, just rinse it off. This recipe even takes off your eye makeup, and when you're done, your face will feel clean and moisturized.

This next recipe works as an exfoliant, deodorant and toothpaste.

You'll need 1/4 cup coconut oil, 1/4 arrowroot powder and 1/4 baking soda. Mix it together and just rub it on your face using a gauze or washcloth to exfoliate your skin.

Loretta says it will take the dead skin off your face and break down the clogged pores. It will also soften the black heads, and over time, your black heads will disappear. Loretta suggests using the exfoliate twice per week.

She adds when using this as a deodorant, don't use too much because you don't want to risk your under arms getting irritated.

Next we made some moisturizer.

All you need for this concoction is 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of palm oil. You can add bio oil and any essential oil like lavender oil. Just take a drop and rub it on your face. If you feel greasy or oily then you put on too much.

If you have oily skin, a skin toner may help.

All you need is witch hazel. For acne or inflamed skin, you can put two aspirins into the bottle.

Next up? Detangler.

Loretta says you also don't need to buy products to de-tangle your hair because she has a recipe for that too.  All you need is to fill a water bottle with water and add a tablespoon of your favorite conditioner. Shake it well before each use, and you are all done.

Overall, Loretta says all of these recipes will not only eliminate toxins from your life, but you will save lots of cash, especially compared to buying beauty products.
