Phoenix pet adoption: Save money when adopting dogs, cats from Arizona Animal Welfare League

PHOENIX - If you have been thinking about adding a new addition to your family like a cat or dog, then you will want to stop by the Arizona Animal Welfare League this weekend.

On Saturday, May 18 they will hold an Empty the Shelter event. The goal for them is to get as many homes for their cats and dogs and make room for other animals that need to be saved.

You can save on adopting a pet at this event. They will be offering specials on their adoptions.

You will be able to adopt a dog for $25 or a cat for $30. Normally you would pay $50 and up.

If you want to adopt a kitten or a puppy, it will cost you $75. All the adoptions include full vaccination and a microchip, plus they are spayed or neutered.

You will also get free veterinary and behavior support for 30 days and free health insurance for 30 days.

Also at the event if you adopt a pet, you will be able to pay just $30 for a heartworm prevention exam which normally costs a lot more.

In addition, your animal will get a free heartworm test and prevention medication.

Your new family member will not go home nameless. They will include a free ID pet tag and goodie bag.
