TOLLESON, AZ - Authorities are searching for one person after they pursued two vehicles suspected to be involved in drug smuggling activity in the West Valley.
According to Bart Graves with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the chase ended at 92nd Avenue and McKinley around noon.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Amber Cargile said it started as a traffic stop of the two vehicles near 93rd Avenue and Van Buren Street.
All six people ran from the vehicles at the end of the pursuit, Graves said.
Five people are in custody, and one person is still on the loose.
The names and nationalities of those arrested weren't immediately released by federal authorities or the DPS.
Homeland Security Investigations officials in Phoenix say three rifles were seized in the case.
They say the stop was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug-smuggling activities.
