Valley war hero surprised with free car from Sanderson Ford

SURPRISE, AZ - A Valley man woke up to a big surprise on Friday when Sanderson Ford delivered a new car to the 80-year-old Korean War veteran.

On Thursday, abc15.com published a story online about George Bruck’s run of bad luck.

On Superbowl Sunday while he was inside a gas station, someone stole Bruck's 1996 Ford Taurus with all of his belongings in the car.

Bruck knew he still needed to get around for his doctor’s appointments at the VA Hospital in Phoenix, so with a limited budget, he got a rental for 30 days.

Due to his budget, Bruck’s family knew that they needed to set up a fundraiser to get him a new car.

The war veteran told the Daily News-Sun , “I just want a car, I don’t care what year it is.”

Sanderson Ford saw Bruck’s story and decided to help him.

On Friday, Sanderson Ford and ABC15 surprised Bruck at his home in Surprise with a 2003 Mercury Sable.

He told ABC15 he is so happy with the car. He said the rental car was too fancy and that he only needed a simple car.

Check out Bruck's reaction in the video embedded above.
