Surprise adopts new Dial-a-Ride transit partnership

SURPRISE, AZ - Monday marks the beginning of the Surprise Northwest Valley Dial-a-Ride service, a new partnership aimed toward expanding transit to a larger region.

According to Valley Metro, Surprise will continue working with passengers on the transition to the Northwest Valley Dial-a-Ride service that begins Oct. 1.

Events throughout September allowed Surprise residents to meet representatives from Discount Cab and Valley Metro, both transit providers, and get them more accustomed to the new vehicles.

Northwest Valley Dial-a-Ride serves residents over 65 years of age and disabled residents in El Mirage, Sun City and Youngtown.

Surprise service will include the general public at this time, Valley metro says.

Passengers will have more benefits including their "customary door-to-door service," Valley Metro Mobility Services Manager Arleen Schenck said in a news release.

Passengers will also have the opportunity of custom vehicles for specific travel needs, longer scheduling hours and unlimited ride bookings, Valley Metro says.

According to Valley Metro, aside from increased passenger benefits, Surprise has reportedly cited savings connected to the new partnership.
