SURPRISE, AZ - A man wanted for a 2004 attempted murder in Surprise has been arrested.
According to Surprise police, 28-year-old Juan Carlos Mendoza was taken into custody Wednesday morning for a Grand Jury warrant that had been issued for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.
The warrant stemmed from shooting incident that occurred on December 27, 2004 in Surprise.
Police say Mendoza fled to Mexico shortly after the incident in which he had allegedly shot the victim several times during an altercation.
Police say in March 2014 Mendoza returned to the United States using an alias.
He was located at a home in west Phoenix where he was taken into custody without incident around 9 a.m. by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
