SUPRISE, AZ - Surprise police say they have located 13-year-old Na Leisha Cotton who has been missing since New Year's Day.
Police spokesman Bert Anzini said Na Leisha was last seen leaving her home with her father, James Cotton, who does not have custody of his daughter.
Anzini said around 5:30 a.m. Friday morning, Na Leisha's legal guardian called police and said Cotton spoke with her on the phone and said he was coming back to the home.
Police responded and were present when Cotton arrived with Na Leisha. Cotton did not stop after seeing officers and fled the area with Na Leisha in the guardian's stolen vehicle.
Anzini said a short time later, police found Cotton walking with Na Leisha in an area not far from her home. After a short foot chase, Cotton was taken into custody and Na Leisha was safely returned to her guardian.
Authorities said Cotton was arrested and booked into 4th Avenue Jail for custodial interference, theft of means of transportation, an outstanding felony warrant, and resisting arrest.
