PHOENIX - A Maricopa County court official says charges of sexual and child abuse have been dismissed against a Surprise man and woman.
The two were arrested on multiple counts of child-related crimes.
Sgt. Mike Donovan with the Surprise Police Department said a man and his girlfriend were arrested after a search warrant was served at a West Valley home on October 2.
Police said they believed the crimes against the male suspect's two daughters, ages 11 and 13, began in 2009.
One of the victims reported the abuse to staff at a school last May, according to police.
Police said a lengthy investigation began leading the arrests of the two suspects.
Surprise police asked ABC15 not to release the identities of the suspects to protect the victims.
The case was "dismissed without prejudice" and it was unknown if the County Attorney's Office will refile charges.
