2 Surprise men arrested in shooting and hatchet attack

SURPRISE, AZ - Authorities in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise have arrested two men in connection with a shooting and hatchet attack.

Surprise police say the men were arguing over a monetary debt when one man allegedly hit the other with a hatchet. The other man then pulled out a gun and allegedly shot the man with the hatchet.

The 31-year-old sister of the man with the hatchet was hit in her upper leg by a bullet.

Police say 29-year-old Marvin Bryan is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault and 29-year-old Oraine Archer is jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Bryan escaped injury and Archer was treated for minor injuries. Police say Bryan's sister was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
