Howard Rudolph update: Sun City man accused in 'mercy killing' on the run, according to MCSO

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help locating a Sun City man arrested for the murder of his 73-year-old wife in August of 2013.

MCSO Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said 79-year-old Howard Rudolph, who was on house arrest, went missing  after removing his ankle monitoring bracelet.

Sheriff's officials said initial reports indicated the murder was a mercy killing. They cited statements made by Rudolph about his wife being ill and what he wrote in a note found with a revolver at the home.

Deputies went to the couple's house in the Phoenix-area retirement community after the Sheriff's Office received a hang-up 911 call from the home.

They say Rudolph made incriminating statements after deputies found Earlene Rudolph dead in a bathroom with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Enriquez said Rudolph fled in a 2006 White Lincoln Town Car, Arizona license plate # BER-4316.

If you have any information regarding Rudolph's whereabouts, you are asked to call 911.
