The scheduled closure of a portion of a major Phoenix-area street that is part of the state highway system has been postponed due to rain.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the scheduled closure of Grand Avenue between Dysart Litchfield roads in Surprise is now scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

It had been scheduled from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.

The closure will allow pouring of the deck of a new bridge at Bell Road and Grand Avenue.

Grand Avenue is also designated as U.S. 60.

ADOT says the $41.9 million overpass and interchange project remains on track, with reopening of Bell Road between 134th Avenue and West Point Parkway scheduled for November.

Completion of the interchange project is scheduled by next spring.
