Video shows armed suspects in Peoria robbery, police ask for public's help

Newly-released surveillance video shows scary moments during a Wednesday night robbery at a Peoria smoke shop.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the two suspects who exchanged gunfire with the G & S Smoke Shop owner around 5:27 p.m. near 91st Avenue and  Union Hills Drive.

According to police, after entering the store, one suspect pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. He then walked behind the counter and raided the register.

Another employee in the back room of the shop witnessed the robbery and went out into the main area with a firearm.

Police said the second suspect fired a single shot at the employee, who then returned fire. Both suspects fled the store on foot.

Employees chased after the suspects, who continued firing, nearly striking the employees and several other people in the area. Police said a parked vehicle was also struck by gunfire.

Suspect one is described as a white male, between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9 inches tall, between 170 to 180 pounds. He was seen wearing black Vans shoes, gray jeans, a black t-shirt, Detroit Tigers hat and sunglasses. His face was covered by a purple bandana and he was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

Suspect two is described as a white male, 30 to 35 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-2-inches tall, 175 to 185 pounds, with brown hair. He was seen wearing gray boat shoes, olive-gray cargo shorts, a black button down shirt. He also had his face covered, with a black bandana, and was also seen with a semi-automatic handgun.
