Jordan Golden wasn't born when 9/11 happened, but wanted to write a speech about the event for a school project.

She decided to focus on a Public Safety Officer who recently died of cancer as a result being part of the search and rescue team at the World Trade Center.

Golden says she was inspired to write about Deputy Chief John McKee because her own father is in public safety.

"You need to be thankful for our first responders and our police officers and our firefighters and our paramedics. To remember to thank them because they do a lot for us," said Jordan.

The speech caused McKee's widow to reach out to Jordan to express her appreciation for her touching speech.
