GLENDALE, AZ - Alexander Ward lost his father hours before he was to walk across the stage last week in his high school cap and gown.
While Ward understandably missed his graduation ceremony, students and staff at Ironwood High School wanted to do something to make sure the high school senior didn't feel left out.
One Valley teen lost his dad just an hour before graduating high school, but his classmates and teachers rallied to make sure he didn't feel left out.
The school re-staged the school's graduated ceremony complete with the band, choir and diploma presentation.
"They turned one of the worst situations in my life into the absolute best,” he said.
Roughly 200 people attended the graduation ceremony, and several of those who attended said there wasn't a dry eye in the room.
The senior will be studying at University of Colorado.
