Police: Woman possibly playing Pokemon Go in parked car when shot in face in Peoria

More information is coming to light about a woman who was shot in the face in Peoria while playing a game, possibly Pokemon Go, over the weekend.

Police received reports around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning after a woman called 911 and said she was shot in the area of 83rd Avenue and Washington Street.

According to police, the woman was sitting in her car in a parking lot playing a game on her phone, which they say may have been Pokemon Go, when three men approached her car and ordered her to get out.

When the victim refused, one of the men shot her in the head, police said.

The woman drove a few blocks away and was able to contact police for help. She is expected to survive but is still being treated in the hospital.

Peoria police are continuing to search for the suspects involved. She said two men are black and one is Hispanic, however, authorities are working on getting a better description.

Investigators are currently combing through surveillance footage that may have captured the incident.
