Peoria Police identify man who attempted to rob a Walgreens

PEORIA, AZ - Peoria Police have identified the man who attempted to rob a Walgreens in Peoria on Friday.

Through a citizen's tip, police have identified the man captured on surveillance video as 44 year old George Mendoza.

Police say Mendoza entered the Walgreens at 75th and Peoria Avenues, and gave the clerk a note demanding money.

According to police, the clerk became upset and was not able to open up the register, that forced Mendoza to leave the store empty handed.

Mendoza is a Hispanic male who is approximately 5'5" to 5'9" and weighting 175 to 210 lbs.

According to Police, Mendoza has brown hair, brown eyes, and a bald spot on the top of his head. He also has a tear drop tattoo under his left eye, and also a tattoo on the right and left side of his neck.

Police say Mendoza is currently on parole for a previous armed robbery. He also has a felony warrant for a parole violation.

Surveillance video showed the suspect getting into a 2006 to 2009 4-door KIA Sorento that is grey or silver.
