PEORIA, AZ - An 18-year-old bicyclist is in serious condition after being dragged underneath a car Tuesday night.
Peoria police spokeswoman Amanda Jacinto said the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. near 75th and Peoria Avenues.
Jacinto said the man was riding his bike in a crosswalk when a driver making a left turn hit him.
Jacinto said the bicyclist was stuck under the vehicle and dragged about 30 feet. Officials said he was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries.
Authorities say the driver stayed at the scene and called 911.
Police said impairment is not a factor and they believe the driver did not see the bicyclist in the dark.
