LAKE PLEASANT, AZ - A dive team from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has found the body of a 15-year-old girl who went missing while swimming at Lake Pleasant.
Spokesman Chris Hegstrom said in an email that it happened Friday afternoon near the 4 Lane boat ramp.
Jimmy Ogle was camping at the lake with his family for the Fourth of July weekend when he heard screaming coming from around the cove.
"The kids were probably about 30 feet out from that shore and all I see is a baby raising her hands. It's traumatic, it's crazy," Ogle said.
Ogle and his brother took their boat to the kids and dove in the water to save them. When they brought them safely to shore, Ogle said the youngest was yelling for his other sister who was still in the water.
"I was in shock. I jumped right back in and searched for close to an hour but couldn't find her," Ogle said.
Hegstrom said that according to witnesses the girl was trying to help others swim when she went under herself and did not resurface.
The teen's name has not been released.
