PEORIA, AZ - A Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital after a crash Friday on the Loop 101 in Peoria, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
DPS spokesman Carrick Cook said the officer was traveling northbound on Loop 101 at Grand Avenue, attempting to make a traffic stop around noon.
As the officer and a motorcycle were moving to the right shoulder for the traffic stop, a red pickup truck rear ended the DPS officer, causing him to crash into the retaining wall, Cook said.
The officer was transported to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital in unknown condition. The condition of the pickup truck driver is also unclear.
