Dog puts car in gear, drowns when it rolls into Lake Pleasant water

PEORIA, AZ - Crews pulled a vehicle from Lake Pleasant Saturday afternoon after it rolled into the water Friday night with a dog trapped inside.

The dog was reportedly tied to the car's bumper around 10 p.m. with the family nearby, when the dog jumped in the vehicle.

The car was somehow put into gear when the dog got inside and rolled into the water. Before the family could rescue the dog, the car was submerged.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office dive team searched the area for the car, and reportedly found it in 10 to 15 feet of water. A tow truck was able to pull the car out of the lake.

The dog was found with the vehicle when crews pulled the car from the water Saturday.
