Yarnell Hill Fire: Valley concert benefits families of Granite Mountain Hotshots

LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ - A benefit concert Saturday night in Litchfield Park raised more than $4,000 in donations for the families of the 19 fallen firefighters who lost their lives in the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Organizers say the free event, held at The Wigwam Resort, encouraged donations. That money will go to the 100 Club of Arizona.

They hoped the event would encourage people to thank their local firefighters and first responders for all they do.

"Just come to support this and shake the hand of a local firefighter," said Ian Faith, who helped plan the benefit concert.

"Just engage and bring better appreciation to our first responders," Faith said.

The event featured local bands, food and booths. Several local fire departments were there to show their support.

Despite all of the fun, concert-goers never forgot the reason they were there.

"As time goes on, it becomes more important that the families have support from the community," said Marian See of Goodyear.

"It's kind of like a party, but everyone's here to give back a little bit," said Marian's husband Jim.
