LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ - A long-time Rhino resident at the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium had to be put down Thursday after being sick for some time, according to the zoo's Facebook page.
Bam Bam was put down after the curatorial and veterinary team at the zoo made the difficult decision to spare him any more discomfort he experienced from his ailments.
Zoo officials say the fan-favorite, male white rhino, lived the majority of his life at the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium where he was an ambassador for his species for over 25 years. He helped raise public awareness about the poaching crisis for all rhino species in Asia and Africa.
Bam Bam will be missed, but fans that would like to learn more about helping rhinos can visit the International Rhino Foundation.
